What we do

The Centre for Welfare Reform is an independent organisation working to:

Increase social justice - we need to make society a fairer place for everyone

Promote citizenship - people should be able to control their own lives and make their own contribution

Strengthen families - healthy families help us bring up our children well and stay strong throughout our lives

Enrich our communities - we need vibrant, welcoming and creative communities

The Centre was established by Simon Duffy in October 2009 and is based in Sheffield. It is made up of over 70 international Fellows and has published over 300 publications.

What we do:

We identify good things that are going on

We share information about them so that others can benefit

We encourage government and policy-makers to reform the system

We help people to connect and do more good work

Why reform the welfare state:

The Centre for Welfare Reform believes the welfare state is a good thing, it's just designed wrong.

You can read more about these ideas and what they might mean by reading this short essay on real welfare reform.
