Kim Haworth
Kim currently works for Lancashire County Council as an Area Commissioning Manager in Central Lancashire. Previous to this Kim has worked and managed provider services.
In 2007 Kim was seconded to lead on the personalisation agenda across the County for an 18 month period. It was during this time that Kim wrote: Self Directed Support in Lancashire – An interim report.
More recently Kim has joined forces with 3 other colleagues to develop the Progress for Provider toolkit that has been designed to assist providers in responding to the personalisation agenda. Kim has worked across the country with a range of providers and commissioners to promote the use of the provider pathway. As part of her role in Lancashire she is leading on work to develop the community pathway with user led organisations and voluntary, community, faith sector providers. Both these pathways will give people who use personal budgets options around developing support plans and managing their budgets.
Kim has also played an instrumental part in developing the 'working together for change model' and has further developed this model to review services and supports in a day where information is used to inform commissioning activity.
Person centred thinking and approaches are fundamental to the way that Kim works. Kim explains that the success of some of the work she has undertaken is down to the support she receives from her team and her manager Terry Mears who she describes as 'brave, person centred and totally solution focused'.
Kim lives with her husband Ian in Rossendale, East Lancashire who is another great source of support. She enjoys, walking, shopping, gardening and time spent socialising with fab family and friends.
