How Incomes Changed (1977-2014)

Between 1977 and 2014 tax and benefit policy in the UK has been designed primarily to lift the incomes of middle-income families

Between 1977 and 2014 the economy has primarily only rewarded the top 10% of earners and there have been significant drops in income for middle-income groups. Policies like the creation of tax credits have shifted resources from the poor and the rich towards the middle.
