Victory on ILF
Five disabled people have succeeded in a legal challenge to the Government's decision to abolish the Independent Living Fund (ILF).
Dr Simon Duffy, director of the Centre for Welfare Reform, said:
"This is an important victory. It makes no sense to close the ILF and to cut social care by 33%, and then to claim that the lives of disabled people entitled to the ILF will be safe in the hands of local government. It is local government and disabled people who are bearing the greatest burden of the cuts and to abolish the ILF will inevitably undermine human rights."
